Sessa at Meese Clothing

We have an ongoing relationship with Meese Clothing in St.Albert. Tressa makes us salivate over her newest designs while we shoot and she makes us laugh hysterically when we're finished. Their newest escapade features a giant billboard of them on the way into St.Albert looking absolutely marvelous. You NEED to check it out, and them. You won't regret it. We haven't. Yet...... Also, a side note, lovely model Nadine here IS sporting a wig, and on-purpose Groucho Marx eyebrows. Just in case you hadn't figured that out. Penny shot these just outside of Meese as the sun was setting, and even though we constatly make fun of lens flare, it's been creeping its way into our shots lately. Weird, but if we start calling it lens 'flair' you have permission to start making fun of us.

Rob Zombie and Alice Cooper

Rob Zombie and Alice Cooper were really cool to get to see, although I thought it was a sign of the times that Alice Cooper opened for Rob Zombie... Alice Cooper was super entertaining. I loved his cheesy antics and pirate sword. I especially liked the part where he 'skewered' his stage lackey with a 'mike stand'. I say this in quotations because obviously it was a stage trick engineered quite cleverly, although I saw the workings of it because I was so up close and personal. I'm okay with it. It was great. On a side note, Alice Cooper likes golfing in Edmonton. Apparently he has a semi-pro swing? Cool!
As for Rob Zombie, crazy crazy performer! In a good way, of course. I wish the lights would've been a little more conducive to shooting, but whatev's. You take what you can get.

Brooks and Dunn

My friend Cody hooked me up with Metro Edmonton, shooting freelance for concerts and events. It's a thrill to be so close to various performers, to see the sweat and smiles and energy they pour into their performances. Brooks and Dunn was cool to shoot not only because I grew up on their songs but also because every crewman I encountered was super nice! Something about people from Nashville makes me smile, especially when they hold my lens and share their shooting space with me! They were generous and kind and I will never forget the experience. Here's some highlights!

Amie and Mike

The first time we met with Amie and Mike I had recently bought a tiny Star Trek pin online, (very, very, very nerdy, I know) and I sported it to our first meeting with them. Mike noticed and made a funny crack about it and since that first day I've been so excited to shoot for these two. We really have matured this last year professionally and we're trying new things. It's exciting to have a partnership because you are always growing together and problem solving together... it's like a marriage, except I think we talk more to one another than to our husbands... Anyway, I hope you all like the photos, they are a little different, and I like that. I can't wait to shoot their wedding next week! Stay tuned for the photos.....

Justine

Justine ( or "Ting" as I picked up unintentionally from her sister) is a good friend and a brilliant designer I'm so happy to know. We came over to play one night and we had such a great time taking pictures and working out new ideas. The four of us (Penny, myself, Justine and Jasmine her sister) got the chance to take pictures and drink tea and enjoy each other's company, which is one of my favorite kinds of shooting. These are Penny's edits, I love the way she's always getting the perfect portrait. I seem to gravitate towards the moments, they're always a bit more messy, but as Penny can attest to, I do love "messes" in general... I think Justine might be a regular muse, time will tell!

Jennifer Maternity

So we do a lot of maternity shoots, since we seem to have a bumper crop of friends, family and acquaintances who are or were just recently pregnant. It's so amazing to watch someone you know grow and expand and change as their pregnancy progresses. It's also really amazing for us to photograph women we don't know who are pregnant because we feel special being included in that private moment.
I think people look at pregnant women in a different way, with a respect and consideration not normally always afforded someone. Almost a nod to the cycle of life... kind of a "thanks" for contributing?
I love these two especially, they're very serene and peaceful, but grounded and statuesque.
